Direct Support Specialist

As part of a team, you are responsible for working directly with consumer(s) in his or her own home and in the community. Simply, you get to be with each person as they make their way through each day's challenges, tasks and experiences. There is no job more important or more "hands on" at Bridges.

Bring your creativity and compassion as you assure a clean, safe, comfortable, personalized, and friendly home for each person while maintaining the highest standards.

Following training, you will assure that all medical orders are followed and documented properly, according to Level 1 Medication Administration guidelines and assure that the consumer receives immediate medical attention when needed.

Qualifications

  • High School Diploma or equivalent
  • Reliable automobile, driver's license and current auto insurance
  • Past or Up-to-Date DMH approved training's a Plus

Community Support

This is a very "hands-on" position requiring the ability to work quite independently. You will work with people who are already fairly independent, who are moving into or already live in their own home. Based on the person's ISP you will teach specific practical skills, build systems and provide guidance which help increase effectiveness and safety.

Areas of support might include, but are not limited to, any of the following: cooking, menu planning, shopping, laundry, cleaning, budgeting, check writing, banking, safety, coordinating medical appointments, using public transportation, accessing recreational or social activities and/or personal hygiene.

Community Support Specialist is responsible for monthly progress reports showing how the work is helping the person work toward their goals.

 

Qualifications

  • High School Diploma or equivalent
  • College Degree Preferred
  • Minimum of one year experience in related field
  • Reliable automobile, driver's license and current auto insurance
